It is important to have an ultrasound before making a decision about your pregnancy. An ultrasound is the most effective way for you to find out the gestational age of the baby. This will help you determine due date and time of conception, especially if you are unsure about the dates of your last menstrual cycle.
An ultrasound is the best way to confirm whether you have a viable pregnancy. Not all pregnancies are viable. There are several early complications that can cause a pregnancy to spontaneously abort, called a miscarriage. Approximately 20 percent of all pregnancies naturally miscarry. Often these complications can be detected through an early ultrasound.
At our center, we offer free ultrasounds. You must first have a pregnancy test with us, after which we can provide an ultrasound. If possible, these appointments are offered on the same day, but that is determined by your dates, the baby’s estimated gestational age, and our scheduling availability. If you are interested in having an ultrasound with us, please start by scheduling a pregnancy test appointment.
Our staff nurses are trained in early obstetrical ultrasound. Our primary objective is to assess fetal viability and estimate gestational age. These ultrasounds are not intended to diagnose fetal abnormalities or to provide the client with information regarding the sex of the baby.
